Today's extremes

CHF strongest · CAD weakest

The widest gap on the board sits between these two. That is a description of where the day's move landed — not a suggestion to trade the pair they form.

How to read it

Score and breadth together

A high score with low breadth usually means one pair is carrying the currency — often after a single headline. Score and breadth disagreeing is information, not noise.

Frequently asked questions

What is a currency strength meter?

It ranks currencies against each other rather than against one counterpart. A single pair like EURUSD tells you how the euro and the dollar moved relative to one another, but not which of the two actually did the moving. Comparing every one of the 28 pairs the eight majors form separates the two.

How do I read the strength score?

Compare currencies in the same period. Rank one is the strongest and rank eight the weakest. The score is not an exchange rate or a return percentage.

Why is the public reading delayed?

The public panel is delayed by 15 minutes. Members see the live figure. The delay is stated rather than hidden, and the reading's age in minutes is printed next to it.

Does a strong currency mean I should buy it?

No. A leading currency may weaken later. The ranking describes the period shown and is not a trading recommendation.
